However, despite being blocked, users retain the capability to continue viewing the stream. In response to this, Twitch has announced its intention to roll out a new option allowing streamers to expel blocked users from their broadcasts, thereby ensuring these individuals cannot access the live content.

The announcement came via Twitch’s Patch Notes livestream, a monthly broadcast where Trevor Fisher, the Senior Product Manager at Twitch, shares platform updates. Fisher elaborated that this feature is set to be integrated “in the coming weeks” and will become an integral part of Twitch’s existing block tools.
Importantly, this feature will not be enabled by default; rather, streamers or moderators will need to activate it as necessary. Fisher underscored that this long-requested security function is designed to enhance streamers’ ability to maintain a positive and respectful community atmosphere.
However, it’s important to note that this feature will exclusively impact live broadcasts. Users who have been blocked will still have the capability to view highlights or clips shared by the streamer. Fisher also indicated that plans are in place to extend this restriction to such content, stating, “This is something we also aim to incorporate as part of this functionality.”
