Hyundai Motor Unveils Cutting-Edge Air Taxi Model S-A2

In a groundbreaking development at the global technology show ‘CES 2024,’ Hyundai Motor Group has introduced its latest air taxi model, aiming to launch this electric flying taxi into the market rapidly. Company officials revealed that they are making swift efforts to bring this innovative air taxi model, capable of covering 200 kilometers in just hours, to the market.

The advanced air mobility company, Supernal, a part of the Hyundai Motor Group based in the United States, showcased the successful debut of its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle named S-A2 at the trade show in Las Vegas. Anticipated to hit the air taxi market by 2028, this model not only promises robust safety standards but also boasts a manufacturing approach that addresses the needs of conventional aviation.

The S-A2 is a V-tail aircraft, capable of traveling at speeds of up to 120 miles per hour and covering distances of 1,500 miles. Notably, this air taxi is designed not only for efficient transportation but also for addressing environmental concerns and meeting the requirements of regular air travel.

The company emphasizes that the air taxi is not only useful for regular transportation needs but also excels in fulfilling emergency requirements. With its advanced technology, including distributed electric propulsion architecture and nine all-tilting rotors, the S-A2 stands out in the emerging market of electric urban air mobility.

With vertical landing capability, the air taxi produces only 65 decibels during takeoff and 45 decibels in flight, ensuring minimal noise disturbance. Supernal Engineering teams, working in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group’s automotive designers, have crafted the S-A2 with a sleek and stylish appearance, making it a fusion of functionality and aesthetics.
