The update, which was introduced in May for Android users under version 2.23.11.15, enables users to quickly locate and connect with others without the necessity of knowing their phone numbers.
Following its success on Android, the company extended this option to iOS devices through the beta 23.20.1.71 update in October. Recently, it has been rolled out to the web version as well, as revealed by WABetaInfo. Notably, users will have the flexibility to change their usernames at any given time.
This additional layer of security serves to ensure that users can communicate with each other without having to share or compromise their personal contact information. However, the timeline for the implementation of this tool remains undisclosed.
